Milwaukee-based Veolia ES Solid Waste joined the National Solid Wastes Management Association (NSWMA).
In related news, Veolia acquired Harry's Refuse Disposal, Inc. of Franklin, Pa. and Roy's Disposal of Spurgeon, Ind.
The Austrailia-based Sims Group has acquired Xstrata Cooper Canada's three e-scrap recycling facilities located in Roseville, Calif., Lavergne, Tenn., and Brampton, Ontario.
Waste Pro USA, Inc. of Longwood, Fla. has made several acquisitions in metro Atlanta, including the Acworth Transfer Station, the Cherokee C&D Landfill, and the assets of Atlas Disposal, I-Haul and Titan Industries.
Houston-based Waste Management has recieved the Business of the Year Award from the Simi Valley, Calif., Boys and Girls Club. The Simi Valley Police Foundation also presented its President's Award to Mike Smith, market area manager for Waste Management.
