Waste-to-Energy Firm Covanta Realigns Senior Management

Waste-to-energy firm Covanta Holding Corp. made several changes to its senior management team to improve focus on organic growth, new technology and project development initiatives.

The Morristown, N.J.-based company said in a news release it has named Seth Myones executive vice president and chief operating officer; John Klett, executive vice president and chief technology officer; and Matthew Mulcahy, senior vice president, head of corporate development.

"Seth, John and Matthew each have long and successful track records with Covanta,” said Anthony Orlando, Covanta president and CEO. “This realignment is consistent with our strategy to seek continuous operational improvement and to grow organically while also developing technology and pursuing long-term growth prospects."

As chief operating officer, Myones will be responsible for all of Covanta's operations, including safety, health and environmental programs, client relations, facility production and energy risk management. In addition, he will be in charge of Covanta’s various organic growth initiatives, including the expansion of the Covanta4Recovery waste services business, enhanced metal recovery and innovative efficiency improvements.

In the newly created role of chief technology officer, Klett will work on developing and commercializing new energy-from-waste technologies. He will also continue to oversee Covanta’s research and development efforts.

Mulcahy, as senior vice president, head of corporate development, will be in charge of Covanta's strategy, development and mergers & acquisitions.
