Waste Pro has expanded its presence in Southeast Florida with a new location in West Palm Beach. In addition, the company has recognized four garbage truck drivers in its Jonesboro, Ark., Division. Each have won the company’s $10,000 Safety Award.

Waste Pro’s new 60,000-plus-square-foot facility and its 12,000-plus-square-foot warehouse are located at 7329 7th Place North near the Florida Turnpike. Overall, the new location sits on nearly 5 acres of land less than 10 miles from Palm Beach International Airport.

The new facility will be home to 166 Waste Pro employees and more than 100 trucks. In addition to the tens of thousands of customers already serviced out of Waste Pro’s previous Palm Beach location, Waste Pro is now servicing four new areas: the town of Lantana, the village of Palm Springs, the town of Ocean Ridge and the village of Royal Palm Beach. In total, approximately 95,000 residential customers and 2,500 commercial customers are serviced out of the new facility.

“We’re very excited to be in a new home in such a great part of Palm Beach County,” said Division Manager Christopher Schulle in a statement. “This team is among the best in the business, and we’re excited to continue providing excellent service to our existing customers and showing our new customers the Waste Pro way.”

At the company’s Jonesboro, Ark., Division, four garbage truck drivers won the company’s coveted $10,000 Safety Award. Scott Greenwood, Steve Wheeler, Randy Brandon and Donnie Galbreath have been part of the Jonesboro Division since local family-owned company Downum’s Waste Services joined Waste Pro in 2016.

The four drivers were recognized for their safety achievements in December 2019 during an award ceremony where they were each provided with a big check.

In an industry that has constantly been ranked as one of the most dangerous in which to work, safe driving habits are crucial. Therefore, Waste Pro established the $10,000 Safety Award program in 2004 to encourage safe driving. Since then, Waste Pro has awarded more than $4.6 million to drivers across the Southeast United States.

To be eligible for the award, drivers must maintain a spotless work record for three years, including excellent customer service, no accidents, injuries or property damage, a positive attitude and attendance record and a well-kept truck. Waste Pro said it is the only private company in the United States that offers a $10,000 Safety Award to drivers.
