Champaign to Vote on Firms for Checking Old Landfill

The city of Champaign will vote on hiring firms to check on the safety of an old city landfill tonight.

The city council will consider two resolutions regarding the former Champaign municipal landfill at its meeting at 7 p.m. at the city council chambers, 102 N. Neil St.

The former landfill is located on 90 acres about two miles west of Mattis Avenue on the north side of Bloomington Road. The site extends north to Interstate 74.
