Catskill, N.Y., Activists Fight Proposed Incinerator Ash Dump

Catskill, N.Y., environmentalists are working to stop a proposed incinerator ash dump in the town. Wheelabrator Technologies is in the process of applying for permits for the dump with the state Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

According to a CBS 6 report, the ash would come from three waste incinerators in Peekskill, Poughkeepsie and Hudson Falls. Activists are calling on the town to stop the project before it goes through administrative processes.

They are working to build support to get the plan rejected

“We are very concerned about public health and the environmental impact of this project,” said Former EPA Administrator Judith Enck.
