San Jose Landfill Operator to Form Odor Coalition

As a possible solution to regional odor issues, the operator of Newby Island Landfill and Resource Recovery Park is in the midst of forming a coalition of other emission sources in the area to diminish the impacts to surrounding cities.

In addition to its odor mitigation measures at the northern San Jose landfill, Republic Services of Santa Clara County has taken the lead in forming the South Bay Odor Coalition, said Don Litchfield, Republic's area environmental manager for Northern California, at a community meeting Monday night in Warm Springs.
