In March, the Prince George (Va.) Board of Supervisors received complaints from local residents who said the odor from the Atlantic Waste Disposal landfill was making it impossible for them to go outside. In an effort to resolve the issue, Waste Management, the landfill’s operator, agreed to seal off areas of the waste mound that were producing the odor by June.
Waste Management recently completed the work of sealing off the waste mound and reached an agreement with environmental regulators to invest $90,000 in upgrades to a 4-H camp as part of a settlement for allowing contaminated runoff to enter waters located near the landfill.

In March, the Prince George Board of Supervisors heard complaints from county residents who said the stench from the Atlantic Waste Disposal landfill near the town of Waverly was pervading their homes and making it impossible for them, and their pets, to go outside.
