EPA Extends Greenhouse Gas Reporting Deadline

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has extended the deadline for reporting 2010 greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) data from March 31 to Sept. 30.

Under the terms of the GHG Reporting Program, facilities that emit at least 25,000 metric tons of GHGs a year have to report their annual emissions data. Such facilities also have to register with the EPA’s electronic GHG reporting tool — known as e-GRRT — at least 60 days before the reporting deadline, meaning the registration deadline is now Aug. 1.

According to an EPA press release, the collected data “will help guide policy decisions and the development of future programs [that] the agency might implement to reduce these emissions. It will also help industries and businesses find ways to be more efficient and save money.”
