Republic Services has opened a 30,000-square-foot office and fleet maintenance facility in Florida that is expected to receive certification from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. The program, created by the U.S. Green Building Council, recognizes environmentally friendly structures.

The facility, located in Palm Beach County, includes low-flow faucets, toilets and urinals that reduce water consumption by 40 percent and also features a roof that reflects heat to reduce the need for air conditioning. The building would be the eighth LEED-certified building in Palm Beach County.
