For the first time ever, a team of University of Cambridge researchers has developed a solar-powered system for breaking down plastics and greenhouse gases.
The process is achieved through the conversion of two waste streams into two chemical products. While other technologies have been able to aid in addressing plastic pollution, this is the first solar-powered process that converts plastics and greenhouse gases into one process.
One reactor with two separate compartments - one for plastic and one for GHG - is the key to the new technology.
