On one hand, the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on restaurants and other food-serving businesses has led to farmers destroying crops due to slackening demand. On the other hand, however, a recent survey reports that Americans are cooking more often and wasting less food in the process.

The survey, by Hunter, a marketing and PR firm, found that 54% of Americans are cooking and 46% are baking more frequently, and that 57% report that they’re wasting less food than they were before the onset of the pandemic.

In addition, 60% of respondents said they’re seeking out recipes that incorporate ingredients they already have on hand in their home.

Hunter’s Food Study Special Report surveyed 1,005 Americans aged 18 to 73 years old via an online survey to a demographically and geographically balanced sample split evenly between males and females.
