The Rome-Floyd County Recycling Center in Georgia could move from its current location on Watters Street to a new space on Lavender Drive if city and country commissioners approve the proposed move in an upcoming meeting.
The move would increase the recycling deficit by $90,000 per year, and according to Rome City Commissioner Sundai Stevenson, most of that deficit would go toward paying to staff the new facility as a low-key collection site and to prevent dumping there.

Documents finalizing the Rome-Floyd County Recycling Center’smove to Lavender Drive from Watters Street are slated to go to the city and county commissions in less than two weeks.
It’s the culmination of several years of advocacy by residents in the North Rome neighborhood next to the facility at 405 Watters St. But the accompanying transfer of cardboard collections to Ira Levy’s Paper Recovery of Georgia on East Sixth Street has alarm bells ringing for property owners there.
