Ulster County, N.Y., Solid Waste Panel to Discuss the Future of Waste Disposal

The Ulster County Solid Waste Management Improvement Commission remains months away from making recommendations on the future of trash disposal in the county, according to commission Co-chairman Carl Chipman.

Chipman, in a telephone interview last week, said the panel is preparing to provide county lawmakers with suggestions and work toward implementing solutions.

“Too many times these committees write a report and then it’s done and over with and the damn thing sits on a shelf,” said Chipman, the Rochester town supervisor. “I don’t want to see that happen. I want to see certain things happen. I want to see certain things happen to move us forward so that we can better serve the communities we represent and also save everybody some money.”
