Waste Management to Assess New Recycling Fee for Orange County, Fla.
The $42-a-ton fee facing Orange County and its municipalities is being assessed by Waste Management, which operates Orange County-owned recycling centers.
Orange County, Fla., which had never charged cities to process municipal recyclables, has recently informed cities that they may have to pay the city's recycling centers operator Waste Management a $42-per-ton fee as of July 1. This fee was created due to the decline in commodity values and the additional service charges required by contractors who sort and sell bundled commodities.
