The Delmont, Pa., City Council has approved a four-year hauling and recycling contract with Republic Services. Republic will offer biweekly recycling services, pickup of hazardous materials and large items and five leaf collections per year.
The quarterly cost for residents is expected to be $53, with the exception of senior citizens who would pay $48 and per-bag users who would pay $3.50. In addition, rates will rise by 2 to 3 percent in the second and third years of the contract and by 10 percent in the fourth year.

Delmont residents will have curbside trash and recycling service by September, if not sooner.
Borough council this week awarded a four-year hauling and recycling bid to Republic Services.
The contract will expire the same time as Murrysville and Export's dual contract, also with Republic Services. Delmont officials then hope to partner with those municipalities on a new contract.
