A new plastics recycling facility in Erie, PA is getting new funding thanks to a commitment from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Load Programs Office.
This week, the Loan Programs Office announced it would guarantee a loan of up to $182.6 million for two projects: help IRG Erie finance the construction of a plastics facility in Erie and build an injection system tower at a steel manufacturing facility in Indiana.
The new facility in Erie will open 304 construction jobs in the area and another handful of operations positions. The facility will recycle PET, HDPE, and polypropylene polymers while manufacturing CleanRed, an iron-reducing agent engineered from residual waste plastic.
