After 60 fires in the last year, a UK landfill is warning residents about improper disposal of vapes, batteries, and small electronics.

Lincolnshire County Council is warning residents to keep their vapes and batteries out of their recycling due to a staggering number of fires at the recycling plant near Grantham.

“The term ‘disposable’ is really misleading,” said Rachel Stamp, the council’s waste partnership and projects manager. “All vapes contain a battery, and if you throw them in your bin, they can be damaged during processing, which causes a spark that can start a fire.”
