Helena, Mont. is working to address issues created by lithium batteries in the city’s landfills following numerous costly fires.

After seeing nearly $18,000 in damage caused by fires caused by lithium batteries, the city will expand its capacity to accept the problematic items at transfer stations. Residents of Helena and Lewis and Clark County are being asked to take their vapes, cell phones, laptops, or other items with lithium batteries to the City of Helena Transfer Station.
