Oakland, Fla. has selected a new waste hauler as the area’s current contract expires on January 31, 2025.

The Oakland Town Commission, coming to the end of its current 10-year contract with a major waste hauler, has selected Waste Pro of Florida Inc. to take over the town’s service. A solid waste advisory committee met over the summer to rank proposals from the town, ultimately ranking Waste Pro of Florida the highest.

“The group’s selection saves money by reducing the collection days to once a week,” said Nathan Brown, assistant public works director.

“However, it does provide town-branded rolling trash and recycling carts that will be owned by the town. … The town will be split into two separate routes (and) collection days. This brought the monthly rate down to $25.58.”
