USC has invested in new multiport recycling stations as part of its first zero-waste pilot.
With clear signs to indicate what goes where, the bins allow for presorted recycling. For example, black bins are for garbage, blue bins are for clean, dry recyclable items and green bins are for composting. USC has even offers a sink for leftover liquids to be thrown away before recycling.
The university has a goal of zero waste by 2028. With eight new stations throughout the campus, which cost approximately $2,500 each, this program is an investment in sustainability.
