Expansion of Alaskan Brewing Company Could Improve Juneau’s Recycling Efforts
The expansion could help the City and Borough of Juneau, Ala., consolidate its three recycling program drop-off locations into one location.
The Alaskan Brewing Company is preparing for its much-anticipated expansion, which could ultimately help improve recycling efforts in the City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ), Alaska. Alaskan is looking to purchase four CBJ-owned lots for the expansion, which would require CBJ to find a new home for its hazardous waste drop-off area and its water utility building.
CBJ currently has three recycling programs in three different locations and by moving the water utility building and hazardous waste drop-off area, CBJ could create a “One Stop Drop Off” site for disposal of hazardous household waste, recycling, composting and scrap metal, which could lower operating and maintenance costs.
Juneau Empire has more details:
For more than a decade, Alaskan Brewing Company has looked to expand westward. It’s inching closer to doing that, and that expansion could pay off for the City and Borough of Juneau in multiple ways.
Besides providing Juneau’s most recognizable business more room for offices, storage or retail facilities, the expansion could also indirectly help the city face the challenge of supplying more efficient waste management.
