Keep America Beautiful Announces Winners of Video Contest

Keep America Beautiful, the Stamford, Conn.-based community improvement nonprofit, announced the national Grand Prize winners of its “How Will You … End Littering?” video contest.

The two winning high school students, Juanise Foster and Eliza Copilevitz, received a GoPro video camera and an all-expenses paid trip to the 2018 Keep America Beautiful National Conference in Dallas. The contest was open to high school students across the country and had a 9th-10th grade category and an 11th-12th grade category.

“Litter is costly to clean up, impacts our quality of life and economic development and eventually ends up as marine debris, polluting our waterways and oceans,” said Cecile Carson, vice president of litter and affiliate relations at Keep America Beautiful, in a statement. “The ‘How Will You … End Littering?’ Video Contest sheds a light on these issues with those who will have the greatest future impact–our next generation of community and environmental stewards. Our contest participants are helping to motivate their peers and others to do their part to end littering in America.”

The video submissions were scored by a panel of representatives for engaging storytelling, originality, adherence to the prompt and production quality, and the contest ran from August 23 through October 13 of last year.
