Eugene, Ore.-based NextStep Recycling is collecting broken or unwanted Christmas lights for Hosea Youth Services, a local nonprofit organization that provides life-skill classes, job training and other services to homeless youth.
NextStep is collecting Christmas lights until the end of January, when the lights will be sold to metals recycler Schnitzer Steel and the proceeds will be donated to Hosea. To date, NextStep has collected more than 4,500 lbs. of Christmas lights and has donated more than $900 to the nonprofit.
