Olathe, Kan., Residents Recycle Nearly 50% of Waste

Olathe, Kan., residents recycled more than 44 percent of their waste in 2016, which is higher than the nation’s recycling rate of 34 percent. To determine the its recycling rate, the city compared the weight of materials recycled and composted to the weight of waste sent to landfill.
