Anaergia Inc. (Anaergia) has announced it has expanded its partnership with East Valley Water District (EVWD) through its subsidiary, Anaergia Technologies, LLC.

With these revisions to the contract between the companies, Anaergia will now provide Operations and Maintenance services for food waste procurement, processing, and power generation to EVWD for its Sterling Natural Resource Center (SNRC).

EVWD’s SNRC, the company’s award-winning facility in Highland, Ca., is a wastewater treatment facility that recovers clean water, energy, and nutrients from wastewater. Anaergia’s Omnivore Anaerobic Digestion system and AMR for nitrogen nutrient recovery are ways the facility recoups value with its advanced technology solutions.

“The SNRC is testament to the District’s dedication to utilizing advanced technology in converting waste into renewable energy and making every source a resource,” said Michael Moore, EVWD General Manager/CEO.

“We are pleased to continue this partnership with Anaergia and maximize the benefit to our community through sustainable solutions.”

The facility can convert 8 million gallons of wastewater and up to 130,000 gallons of imported organic waste streams, per day, into three megawatts of renewable power and produce clean water to replenish the local groundwater aquifer.

“This long-term agreement with EVWD leverages Anaergia's expertise in food waste and wastewater co-digestion with renewable energy generation and extends the services Anaergia is providing to biogas plant owners,” said Assaf Onn, CEO of Anaergia.

“We are very pleased to be helping EVWD achieve its exemplary sustainability objectives as we pursue our mission to accelerate the world’s clean energy transition by transforming waste into valued resources.”

The expanded services through the amended partnership are expected to generate roughly C$4 million annually for Anaergia. This is now the eighth Operations and Maintenance agreement in the United States, positioning the company as a leading digestion and co-digestion infrastructure operator in Southern California.
