City Council in Sioux City, IA Rejects Bids to Improve Wastewater Treatment plant

City staff have come out and asked the Sioux City, Iowa council to reject all binds on project upgrades to the city’s wastewater treatment plant.

City staff have come out and asked the Sioux City, Iowa council to reject all binds on project upgrades to the city’s wastewater treatment plant.

Sioux City is looking for a $465 million overhaul of the wastewater treatment plant in the city which includes the construction of a high-strength waste-receiving facility with related pumping, piping, valves, and controls.

Voting to a unanimous 4-0, the city council rejected all bids for the “Digestion and High Strength Waste Receiving Improvements Project”. The project received only one bid over $14 million, which is said to be much higher than the engineer’s estimate. The council is now looking for a new company to complete the project which the American Rescue Plan Fund will fund.
