MANAGING DIRECTOR

SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT

The Monroe County Solid Waste Management District Board of Directors seeks to fill the position of Managing Director of the solid waste management program for Monroe County, Indiana, in compliance with Indiana and Federal laws and rules and the goals of the District’s 20-Year Solid Waste Management Plan. The Managing Director reports directly to the Board of Directors. The position coordinates efforts with the Board of Directors, the Citizens Advisory Council, and other pertinent local, county, and state boards and committees and works and coordinates with private businesses that provide solid waste handling and recycling services within Monroe County. The position must stay abreast of all areas of solid waste management issues, laws, regulations, methods, and policies and their ramifications, and acts as a legislative advocate for Monroe County Solid Waste Management District. A Bachelor’s Degree in business management, public administration, environmental planning, science, engineering, or related field and five years of related experience is required. A Master’s Degree and three years of related experience is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to review detailed, technical material is required. Prior experience in supervision and in budget preparation and execution is necessary. Strong motivation, leadership, and interpersonal skills are required. Landfill operation certification (MSW & C&D) is a plus. Salary range for 2004 is $53,843 - $58,500. Comprehensive benefit package. EOE.
