To provide WasteExpo 2000 attendees with a look at how to do business to the best of their abilities, the Environmental Industry Associations, EIA, Washington, D.C., is bringing a new Guest Speaker Series to the conference's education program.
Over the course of three days, these guest speakers will address several key business management strategies that provide any company or employee with a balanced perspective on what is involved in doing business in the 21st century.
Monday, May 15 Kicking off the program at 10 a.m. is Thomas Faranda, who will identify how technology and innovation, used as leadership and management tools, will help companies profit from market, industry and societal changes.
Attendees also will learn when to buy, or not to buy, emerging technology and how to maximize existing technology and E-commerce. By critically looking at future technology, broken down by specific industries, from medical to manufacturing and computers to telecommunications, attendees will learn how to use change for competitive advantage.
Faranda is the author of several books, including Uncommon Sense Leadership and Gaining Competitive Advantage.
He is CEO and chair of United Advanced Technology Management (ATM), Inc., and the former president of The Hospital Corporation of Chicago.
Tuesday, May 16 WasteExpo begins its second day speaker series with George Morrisey, who will discuss "Linking Strategic and Tactical Planning: A Team Development Approach." Morrisey's presentation demonstrates how an organization's planning process can build an executive team that will function effectively and carry out the organization's mission.
Morrisey specializes in helping organizations motivate key people through an effective planning process that will lead to focused long- and short-term results.
As the author and co-authors of 19 books, Morrisey has more than 20 years management experience and 25 years as a full-time consultant.
Wednesday, May 17 The final speaker is R.W. Hawthorne, Ph.D.,whose presentation is entitled, "When to Reward the Star/When to Reward the Team!" will discuss why industry professionals must define how they will use their resources and how they intend to accomplish their goals.
Hawthorne's presentation will provide a framework for participants to take action to ensure that personnel recognition, rewards and incentives align with their business or the corporation for which they work.
