EPA Gives Grant to Poultry Company to Create Energy

Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded a $4.9 million grant to the Gas Technology Institute of Des Plaines, Ill., to support the development of a demonstration food processing facility to be used by the Butterball Turkey Co., Carthage, Mo. The project hopes to convert poultry wastes into energy products without discharging air pollutants that pose odor and human respiratory problems.
