Buffalo, N.Y. -- Four hundred rail cars filled with New York City trash that have been sitting in a Buffalo rail yard since February are scheduled to depart for a landfill outside of New York state sometime between next week and the end of the month, news sources say. Details on why the 40 million pounds of garbage was waylaid are not available because the state has issued a gag order for the attorneys representing the state and the city. The names of the companies that brought the garbage to Buffalo and the name of the landfill the loads are bound for also is not being released. Residents are reporting fruit fly infestations.
