ACQUISITIONS * The Peltz Group, Milwaukee, an independent paper recycler, has purchased Recycling Options Ltd., Cleveland. Earlier this year, Peltz also purchased Ohio Waste, Cleveland.
* The Melroe Co., Fargo, N.D., has purchased Erskine Manufacturing Co. Inc., Erskine, Minn.
ANNOUNCEMENTS * Energy and Environmental Consulting Engineers (EECE), Mission Viejo, Calif., announces that it was awarded two international solid waste projects: one conducting a feasibility study for a landfill in Manila, Philippines, and the other incorporating air pollution control equipment in the city of Vladivostok, Russia.
* Asche Transportation Services Inc., Shannon, Ill., has announced the completion of a $12 million private placement of the company's common stock.
* Continental General Tire's Commercial Division, Charlotte, N.C., announces it has contributed funds to the 18 Wheels of Hope food drive on behalf of America's truck drivers.
AWARD * The U.S. Department of Energy's Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory, Idaho Falls, Idaho, has been awarded a 1999 R&D 100 Award by R&D magazine for its Cryogenic ZAWCAD industrial cutting and cleaning technology.
The award is given to the top 100 technology developments of the year, and are selected from an array of international entries.
