New York -- News agencies are reporting that New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will restore a $90.2 million package of proposed budget cuts, which includes $11 million to the New York Department of Sanitation (NYDS) to help maintain the twice-weekly garbage collection in every borough. The administration had proposed reducing pickups to once per week in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and parts of the Bronx starting this summer. Beginning July 1, fiscal year 2004, the city’s debt will be approximately $3.8 billion.
