NASCAR recently announced the addition of Tampa, Fla.-based e-waste recycling firm Creative Recycling Services (CRS) to its lineup of Official NASCAR Green Partners. CRS will help NASCAR, its partners and its customers recycle end-of-life electronics. The partnership includes a practical agreement to recycle e-waste from NASCAR offices, but also from teams and venues. It also includes an advocacy component, raising e-waste recycling awareness among NASCAR fans, sponsoring e-waste drives and other initiatives.

"We're proud to welcome Creative Recycling as an Official NASCAR Green Partner and to join them in the effort to productively and profitably reprocess and reuse electronic products," said Michael Lynch, Ph.D., NASCAR managing director of green innovation, in a press release. "Our fans are avid recyclers, as evidenced by the largest recycling program in all of sports, and adding a partner like this is another positive step toward reducing our sport's impact on the environment."

Do you think these kinds of partnerships really help foster recycling or are they just a form of greenwashing?
