Silver Spring, Md. -- Holly Smithson, director of government affairs for the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), has accepted a political appointment in President George W. Bush’s administration. Beginning in August, Smithson will be working at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Washington, D.C., in the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs. SWANA is seeking a replacement for her position.
