Forest Concepts, Federal Way, Wash., has joined the King County, Wash.-based manufacturer-sponsored recycling program LinkUp. Forest Concepts develops wood-based erosion-control material.
The California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB), Sacramento, has announced that the city of San Jose diverted 64 percent of its waste in 2000.
Caterpillar Inc., Peoria, Ill., has completed construction of a 100-megawatt power plant in Azua, Dominican Republic.
Call for Papers
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Columbus, is requesting proposals for a state litter study that will be conducted during fall 2003 and spring 2004. For details, call Jan Voelker, technical and program assistance unit manager, at (614) 265-6368.
The Indiana Department of Commerce Energy Policy Division, Indianapolis, is requesting pre-proposal program summaries from companies interested in Recycling Market Development Program grants. The funds encourage an increased use of recycled products. Proposal guidelines may be found at www.CommerceRecycles.in.gov.
Grants
Earth Pledge, a New York-based environmental nonprofit group, has received a $65,000 Innovative Work Group Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Washington D.C., and $15,000 from the Albany-based New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.
