Heartland's New Technology Center in Murfreesboro Highlights PFAS Destruction

Heartland Water Technology, Inc. has unveiled its cutting-edge Robert E. Cawthorn Technology Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

The 30,000-square-foot facility is named in honor of the company's devoted investor and Board Chair and represents a significant step in their mission to revolutionize waste treatment and conversion.

Heartland CEO Chris Beaufait commented: "Our goal with this new facility will be to enhance customer awareness of Heartland’s solutions, facilitate collaboration, and provide a place where the company can continue to develop optimal wastewater and waste conversion treatment systems for the market."

The newly established Heartland Technology Center is a testament to the company's commitment to innovation and sustainability. It is part of a multi-million-dollar investment initiative to develop a comprehensive, eco-friendly solution to tackle complex waste treatment, conversion, and destruction challenges. With this expansion, Heartland has bolstered its workforce, now employing over 20 engineers and professionals in Middle Tennessee.

At the heart of the Technology Center is the company's HelioStorm™ technology, a high-temperature, combustion-free ionic gasifier that  transforms organic materials into clean, hydrogen-rich syngas.

This syngas can be harnessed for power generation, clean hydrogen recovery, or carbon conversion into valuable products like carbon black. Moreover, the HelioStorm's extreme temperatures (exceeding 3,000°C) make it effective in completely eradicating various chemical contaminants and volatile organic compounds, including perfluoroalkyl compounds (PFAS). It can handle a wide range of waste streams, including biosolids, end-of-life plastics, solid waste, PFAS resins, and regulated medical wastes, offering Assured PFAS Destruction to clients and communities.

The Technology Center also showcases the award-winning Heartland Concentrator™, which specializes in treating challenging industrial wastewaters like landfill leachate and produced water. This patented direct-contact evaporation technology evaporates up to 95 percent of liquid waste streams, releasing clean water vapor into the atmosphere and sequestering PFAS and other contaminants in a concentrated residual that can be safely managed.
