ReWorksSA Helps San Antonio Businesses Start Commercial Recycling
ReWorksSA uses its website, certifications, consultations and a container assistance program to make recycling easier for businesses.
ReWorksSA, which was created after the San Antonio City Council adopted the Recycling and Resource Recovery Plan, is helping local businesses start commercial recycling and overcome the challenges that come with implementing recycling practices. Through its website, certifications, consultations and a container assistance program, ReWorksSA aims to make recycling easier for businesses.
Since February 2018, ReWorksSA has assisted 100 local businesses, and since January 2017, ReWorksSA has helped 14 businesses get certified, 300 containers get delivered to eight businesses and 100 consultations get conducted.
The ReWorksSA initiative is still in its early stages, but businesses are seeing its benefits and making use of the initiative to get their recycling efforts off the ground or to improve their recycling efforts.
San Antonio Current has more details:
Since February, the ReWorksSA initiative has assisted 100 local businesses as they make steps toward commercial recycling.
Brian Halverson, environmental services manager at San Antonio’s Solid Waste Management, said the ReWorksSA initiative was created after San Antonio City Council adopted the Recycling and Resource Recovery Plan.
“One of the three goals in there includes improving recycling opportunities for businesses, so that is really the emphasis behind [ReWorksSA],” Halverson said. “Helping to make it easier, more affordable and helping businesses overcome obstacles to help them recycle.”
