Ohio Garbage-Hauling Company Owner Pleads Guilty to Violating Environmental Laws

The owner of several Cleveland-area garbage-hauling companies admitted Friday to violating federal environmental laws in the demolition of a building containing asbestos in Cleveland's Glenville neighborhood.

Christopher Gattarello, the owner of Reach Out Disposal and Axelrod Rubbish Recycling, among other companies, pleaded guilty to two counts of violating the Clean Air Act. He ordered demolition of the National Acme Building, 170 E. 131st St., in 2012. Harmful toxins were then released into the air near many homes and a school.
