Goodwill Keystone Area has partnered with Reworld, an e-waste recycling company, to create a new initiative that will allow shoppers to recycle electronic waste in select Pennsylvania counties.

The program kicked off during an event at the Goodwill Keystone Area and donation center in Lemoyne. Electronic devices that are broken or at the end of their life (and can’t be sold by Goodwill) will be recycled by Reworld. Reworld has recycled more than 135 million pounds of e-waste.

“Electronic waste is the fastest-growing waste stream in the world, and making electronics reuse and recycling easier and more accessible is critical to keeping these materials out of landfills or worse, illegally dumped,” said Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Acting Secretary Jessica Shirley.

The program will cover 22 central and southeastern counties in Pennsylvania.
