Beginning October 1, 2016, the City of Toms River, N.J., will stop accepting e-waste recyclables due to a significant increase in disposal fees of electronics. Instead of dropping off the e-waste at the Recycling Convenience Center on Church Road, residents can recycle their items at the Ocean County Recycling Center in Lakewood, N.J., free of charge.

If you have old electronics you were hoping to recycle locally, we have bad news: Toms River will no longer accept them beginning Oct. 1.
Township officials announced the change on Facebook Monday, and said it is because of the cost for the township to dispose of the items.
