News announcements continue to roll in through WasteExpo 2019.
The news announcements from WasteExpo 2019 continued to roll in during the third day of the show. Here are some news announcements from CM Shredders, Peterbilt and Vecoplan.
CM Shredders Opens New Test Lab, R&D Facility in North America
CM Shredders, a manufacturer of advanced industrial shredders and recycling systems, has opened its new test lab and research and design (R&D) demo facility in North America. Located at its headquarters in Sarasota, Fla., the new 4,000-square-foot R&D and demo facility features an array of both single shaft and dual shaft shredding systems from the company’s versatile product range.
“The new test lab and R&D facility is an exciting new milestone in our long company history of fueling technology and innovation and the latest step in the process of expanding our business activities beyond our traditional tire shredding and tire recycling equipment,” said Charles Astafan, general manager at CM Shredders, in a statement. “We will be able to not only develop and provide new products and processes but also help our customers with a proactive approach when facing the challenges of today’s production environments, whether through test shredding, applications, developing turnkey systems, training support or R&D work. We will work closely and proactively with key suppliers and other industry experts to find solutions that help our customers to improve and optimize their current operations.”
As of December 2018, CM Shredders was acquired, joining the Bengal Machine family of size reduction companies, which includes its sister company, Schutte Hammermill, a New York-based manufacturer that has developed an extensive line of size reduction equipment, including hammer mills, lump breakers, crushers and shredders that provide a consistent and exact finished particle size.
“One of the key focuses of the new CM Test Lab and R&D facility will be application support, especially in areas where tough or exotic materials traditionally create challenges for equipment and operators in size reduction applications. Dedicated application engineers will work with our customers from all industries to solve their very specific issues. It will also give our clients the opportunity to attend hands-on demonstrations to help better understand processes, capabilities and see the quality delivered by CM Shredders systems first-hand,” said Martin Berardi, CEO of Bengal Machine, in a statement.
“With the acquisition of the CM shredder business and the combination with our Schutte Hammermill product lines, now under the Bengal Machine banner, our company has moved into an ideal position to become the size reduction equipment supplier for nearly every market need—regardless of the products or materials our customers are working with,” said Christopher Berardi, president and general manager of Schutte Hammermill, in a statement. “With the stellar reputations and product offerings of both companies, the CM purchase and merger represents a strategic opportunity to add significantly to our worldwide installation base and grow our capacity and scale.”
With a combined heritage of more than 125 years in business and as leaders in their respective areas of size reduction servicing a wide range of industries and applications, both CM Shredders and Schutte Hammermill said they are excited to join forces under the Bengal Machine banner to offer complete, turnkey solutions across all segments of the size reduction market. Through its CM and Schutte brands, Bengal Machine offers a full range of size reduction equipment and systems to fit any application need, all under one roof.
Brightmark Energy Selects Vecoplan
Vecoplan, LLC, a North Carolina-based manufacturer of waste recycling equipment, has been awarded a contract to design and build the front-end material processing and preparation system for Brightmark Energy’s new plastics-to-fuel plant in Ashley, Ind. Vecoplan’s prep system will incorporate a variety of technologies engineered to deliver feedstock that meets specifications vital to the plant’s successful production of transportation fuel.
Slated for completion in mid-2020, Brightmark’s Ashley facility will produce more than 18 million gallons of ultra-low-sulfur diesel and naphtha blend products and 6 million gallons of commercial-grade wax each year. Feedstock for Brightmark’s Ashley plant will include more than 100,000 tons of mixed plastic scrap per year. This landfill diversion material will consist of single-use and other post-consumer plastics, residuals from materials recovery facilities and post-commercial and post-industrial plastic waste streams.
“Prior to undergoing the conversion process, Vecoplan integrated mechanical systems technologies will formulate commingled waste to meet the plant’s strict feedstock requirements,” said Vecoplan Managing Director Bob Gilmore in a statement. “This includes many steps proven from our past experience in the waste conversion industry.”
Highlights of the system include a Vecoplan VAZ 2000 MFTV pre-shredder to achieve a homogenous aggregate size, induction and optical sortation for removal of unacceptable contaminates, and a Vecoplan VEZ 2500T re-shredder for final sizing of the feedstock. Additional system components include material drying, pelletizing and handling.
“The system will incorporate Vecoplan’s design for receiving, sizing, cleaning and delivery in a controlled and metered fashion,” said Matt Davidson, Vecoplan’s Waste Systems sales engineer, in a statement.
“We entrusted Vecoplan with our first-of-its-kind facility after an extensive review of the material processing technologies available on the market,” said Jay Schabel, president of Brightmark Energy’s plastics division, in a statement. “The Vecoplan proven turnkey solution is the best fit for our operational requirements. The level of experience and support offered by Vecoplan’s technical sales group has been world class, and we look forward to a successful installation at our Ashley facility.”
A groundbreaking is scheduled for the Ashley plant later this month.
