Four family members died in an accident in Vinton County, Ohio, after the driver of the car failed to yield at a stop sign and traveled into the path of a trash truck.

"This tragic incident highlights one of the hazards that waste collection drivers face every day on their routes – intersections,” SWANA CEO and Executive Director David Biderman said in an emailed statement. “Many accidents occur at intersections, often due to another driver ignoring a stop sign or running a red light. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those killed, as well as the young Rumpke driver.”

"First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in today's accident" said Jonathan Kissel, of Rumpke Waste and Recycling.
