Peoria Disposal to add CNG fueling station, 12 trucks

Peoria Disposal Co., the Illinois city’s residential waste and recycling hauler, and Clean Energy Fuels Corp. are building a compressed natural gas (CNG) commercial  fueling station.

Peoria Disposal (PDC) is adding 12 new CNG-powered  trucks, and the new facility will be the headquarters for the new fleet. It also will be open to Peoria commercial businesses.

“We are excited about this initiative, which will bring cleaner-burning alternative fuel to our area,” said Matt Coulter, Peoria Disposal vice president, in a press release. “PDC is increasingly aware of the global need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve overall air quality. Our investment in CNG confirms our commitment to exceed stringent standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency and, ultimately, reward the Peoria community with cleaner fuel and cleaner air.”

PDC is also working with Autocar on the transition to natural gas. The trucks are made by McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing Co.
