Waste Pro Switching its Fleet to CNG Fuel
Waste Pro USA is investing $100 million to switch its fleet of heavy trucks to compressed natural gas (CNG) and build fueling stations throughout the South.
Waste Pro is initially buying 150 heavy waste collection and recycling trucks and building a multi-million dollar fueling facility in Fort Pierce, Fla. The company is partnering with Clean Energy, a leading provider of natural gas fuel and facilities, to design and construct the complex in Fort Pierce, Waste Pro said in a news release.
The Longwood, Fla.-based company has received two CNG trucks at its metro Atlanta waste collection operation, home to Waste Pro subsidiary American Recycling. American Recycling operates a large plant that recycles paper, plastic, cardboard and glass, and serves Atlanta Hartsfield airport and thousands of private customers.
“We care about the communities we serve. Our future includes a continued commitment to solar powered facilities, residential and commercial recycling, landfill diversion, and clean air,” said John Jennings, Waste Pro president and chief executive officer. “This move will dramatically reduce emissions in our operating footprint and potentially provide fueling stations for the cities and counties we serve.”
