Ace Glass Steps in to Recycle Glass in Pulaski County, Ark.

Pulaski County, Ark., has recycled more than 1.8 million pounds of glass since April, when Ace Glass recruited local businesses to put out collection bins and offered paid pickup services for residents.

THV 11 reports that on April 1, Waste Management stopped accepting glass for recycling due to a contract change with the Regional Recycling & Waste District. The glass Ace has collected has been shipped to Strategic Materials, where it will be turned into fiberglass insulation.

Ace has plans to open a central plant in Arkansas in 2020 to help reduce the price of material transportation.

It may be more challenging, or more expensive, for most people to recycle glass in Pulaski County since the county’s recycling program stopped accepting glass in curbside bins. But in the months since then, people have recycled in record numbers.
