Waste-to-energy firm Covanta Holding Corp. partnered with New Jersey Audubon to establish substitute habitats for Chimney Swifts and Common Nighthawks, both bird species facing consistently declining populations. The project involves the construction and installation of artificial chimney structures made of wood on the roofs of Covanta waste-to-energy facilities throughout the state.
