AIMPLAS Announces Joint Project for Enhancing Logistics and Waste Treatment in Europe

AIMPLAS, Spain’s Plastics Technology Center, has announced a new joint project in Europe, which focuses on enhancing logistics and waste treatment, such as upholstery, plastic garden products, textiles, furniture and mattresses.

Together, seven countries will team up to try and reach 82 percent bulky waste recovery in Europe and 225.6 euros per ton as economic net profit.

Spain’s Plastics Technology Center, AIMPLAS has announced a joint project lately in Europe. The project aims at enhancing logistics as well as waste treatment, such as upholstery, plastic garden products, textiles, furniture, and mattresses. Innovative separating methods, which report a net profit equivalent to 225.6 euros per ton, will help achieve the aim.

The European project dubbed URBANREC has been coordinated by AIMPLAS. The project comprises of 20 other entities within the 2020 programme’s agenda, which belong to seven different countries such as Belgium, Turkey, Spain, and Poland.

All these are creating management solutions which promote reusing and prevention. Also, innovations are being applied to waste treatment and logistics to pave a way for the recovery of bulky waste for getting recycled products of high-added value. These products include foams, additives or solvents, composites strengthened with fiber and felt, strengthened plastics like Wood Plastic Compounds (WPC), and adhesives.
