Antiques Explode Show

Inevitably, while cleaning out the garage, one comes across those items that are difficult to dispose of properly: old paint, insecticide, a live World War I hand grenade. You know, the usual. The latter was turned in to a landfill in Westport, Conn., during a recent hazardous waste collection event. The woman who turned in the aged but still quite deadly device explained that her husband had brought it back after serving overseas (though likely not in the conflict in which it was meant to be used). The state police bomb squad subsequently detonated the graying grenade in a quiet corner of the landfill, leaving its yard sale value an open question.
