The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has a reached settlement with the Connecticut Resource Recovery Authority (CRRA) and Covanta Energy Corp. on cases involving air emission violations at two waste-to-energy (WTE) plants. The plants are located in Wallingford, Conn., and Hartford, Conn. CCRA owns the facilities, and Covanta operates them.
As part of the settlement, a $355,000 payment will be made to DEP to aid local recycling programs, and a new ammonia-emissions monitoring system will be installed at the Hartford site.
