Collecting garbage is a notoriously dangerous job. Most sanitation workers, however, probably don't have gun-toting residents on their list of likely job hazards. Waste Management workers in Palm Coast, Fla., learned differently when they refused to pick up a man's propane tank along with his regular trash. After the collectors explained the company's pick-up policy, the man retrieved a .38-caliber pistol from his residence and fired one shot in the air.

The disgruntled resident was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and discharging a firearm. Perhaps the police should have added littering to the list of charges to account for the stray bullet.
